Design Comps for Sunhouse Studio
My formal training in design consists of an eClasses.org course called Design Concepts. The comps posted here are labs from that class and an example of my most radical design to date. Notice the organic, hand-drawn illustrations combined with a consistent, well-organized layout.
There is an ongoing debate in the web design industry over the value of aesthetic design in helping clients reach their goals. Some designers feel there is no place for it; that only written content, speed and good navigation matters.
I believe that aesthetic design is crucial to good web design at a number of levels. Elements such as color (or not), balance, visual hierarchy and so forth reach an audience in the first micro-seconds of their visit. These elements convey worlds of information about you and your objectives, and greatly influence their next move. Good design encompasses many facets of human experience. I strive to address them all during the course of every project.
